And so to our second long weekend away with Mabel. Our destination being Llanberis, North Wales, at the foot of Snowden. We stayed for three nights at the peaceful & immaculately maintained Llanberis Touring Park just a stones throw away from the village itself.
The purpose of our trip was to learn more about our motorhome, produce some invaluable User Guides and to take more photographs of Mabel and her contents to include some drone video footage (that’s another story!!) using a drone borrowed from a close friend.
The journey from Chorley was smooth and relaxing and Mabel really is a pleasure to drive. The pitching and set up of the motorhome was straightforward, tea was brewed and numerous photographs were taken. A pleasant short work through light woodland led into the village and we decided to eat at a local Indian restaurant named Spice- wow what a find! During our first night there were almost gale force winds blowing (not as a result of our curry!) and Mabel was rocking gently albeit lovely warm and cosy. Friday it rained & rained & rained so we learned more about the internal features Mabel has to offer and producing some simple to follow user guides. Cooking our evening meal was a pleasure and easily achieved in the kitchen area utilising the equipment we provide. A cosy night in with a few drinks in front of the TV (ITV- England v Czech Republic with excellent TV reception through the automated satellite system) and a delightful sleep in the super comfy bed completed our Friday. Saturday the winds and rain relented so time to try the drone. Sue took the controls of Mabel and I attempted to get to grips with drone-not easy!! Our chosen panoramic destination was the narrow and winding Pen-y-Pass and although initially hesitant, by the time Sue had driven the 20 minute route three times, she wouldn’t give up control of Mabel, so easy and pleasurable Mabel is to drive despite the terrain. As for the drone footage I think I need more lessons! More user guides and photographs followed and so good was it a return visit to a much busier Spice completed our evening with another excellent sleep. Sunday was a beautiful day so time for few more photograph. A delightful journey home along the north coast of Wales looking out on to an incredibly blue sea reminding us a holiday in the Med, who’d have thought!
